One problem with your method would be that there are too many uncontrolled forces. There would also be some risk of infection and damage to your gums.Also, even if you were able to close the gap, some type of retention would be necessary to prevent teeth from shifting back.

It has been mentioned that this could work. You could give it a try, however, you could cause other spaces to the nearby teeth, and it could cause gum problems.

No it doesn't work the rubberbands are not strong enough , I've tried .....
