Has anyone had any success with the ora-band combo pack? Meaning there are no spaces at all in any of your teeth?

I used the Combo Pack a couple of years ago. It works for your front 6 teeth. You use the small bands for your 2 fronts and use the bigger bands for the rest of your front teeth.

I only had a gap in my 2 front teeth but it was pretty big. So when the 2 front teeth closed up I had some gaps on the sides of them. So I used the big bands to bring the other teeth in and closed up the other gaps.

I moved my 2 front teeth in first. Then I used the big bands on my other teeth. Then I got a retainer. 2 years later my gap is still closed.

"Sandy" the "Orthodontic assistant" is not telling the truth.

These are the same bands that orthodontists use to move teeth. I have never seen an orthodontist admit that online.

You have to understand that braces cost anywhere from $5,000.00 to $6,000.00. So when you decide to use something else that is money that is coming out of an orthodontist's pocket. They have no interest in seeing orthodontic devices sold online.

Fortunately, a family member of mine is in the orthodontic profession and told me the truth. He said orthodontists charge everybody pretty much the same amount of money whether their case is simple or complex. Nobody ever questions them so they get away with it.

Think about it like this ---

Let's say you went to your mechanic to have a new set of tires put on your car. Then you come back and the mechanic has put new tires on the car, added new brakes, tuned up the engine and worked on the transmission. Then the mechanic wants to charge you a couple of thousand dollars when all you needed was new tires put on your car. You would not allow a mechanic to rip you off like that!

That is essentially the same sort of thing that orthodontists do when they give everybody that has even the most basic orthodontic issue a mouth full of braces.

I tried the bands and they worked within a couple of weeks. No gap. And no $5,000.00 orthodontist bill.

Orthodontists don't move the roots of your teeth, either. The roots of your teeth are inside of your gums. They don't cut your gums open to put metal braces in them! That is ridiculous. The roots of your teeth move along with your teeth.

Just my two cents. I used the bands last year and they worked just fine.

This is kind of a really bad idea. It'll just mess your teeth up. Are you a teenager or a "tween"? Because if you are, don't worry about the gap too much. A lot of people have gaps between their two front teeth when they're kids but the closer you get to adulthood and your body matures more, the teeth can come together on your own. I used to have a GIANT gap growing up, so much that my cousin teased me and told me I should shop at The Gap. >:( But now I don't have one anymore :D So don't worry about it. I think I also tried the rubber band thing too when I was like 12, and it just got sore and bleedy. Plus, if you keep messing with them, it could loosen them and one day say if you got hit in the face with a ball, usually it would just be "ow that hurt", but if you keep messing with them and loosening them, it could be "wow my tooth is dangling from a shred of root" and the dentist bills will be GINORMOUS, and I don't think your mom would appreciate it. So just leave it be, please.

You really don't want to try these gap-closing bands.

Closing gaps and moving teeth is not a one-size-fits-all situation, and is a lot more complicated than just squeezing your teeth together.

When orthodontists move teeth, they use different wires using varying degrees of force. Also, teeth don't all move exactly the same amount even with the same force.

Most importantly, when orthodontists move teeth, they also move the roots of the teeth. The store-bought rubber bands can't do that. When you move teeth without moving the roots, there is a good chance that you will cause permanent damage to your teeth.

I recently used the combo pack (this past summer). It has been a few months now since I used them. They worked fine for me. My husband was pleasantly surprised. The first thing that you have to understand is that ora-band is only for your front row of teeth. If you need to move your pre-molars and molars this is not for you.

-For my 2 front teeth: All I had to do was use the narrow closing bands for those. Change them in equal intervals of time about 3 times a day. They give you 2 different sizes of narrow closing bands (this is in addition to the wide closing bands - I'm not at that part yet). If you have a big gap then you want to go with the bigger narrow closing bands. But if your gap isn't that big then you can use the small narrow closing bands. My gap wasn't too big. It wasn't small, either. Mine was about mid-sized (probably venturing toward the larger side). I closed my 2 front teeth and got that out of the way. When my 2 front teeth closed I had little spaces on either side of them where my 2 front teeth used to be. Then I went on to the wide closing bands.

Once my 2 front teeth come together I made the switch from wearing narrow closing bands to using narrow retaining bands. The narrow retaining bands held my 2 front teeth in place. The gap stayed closed and my teeth didn't move anymore.

At that point, while I was wearing my narrow retaining bands I used my wide closing bands. You probably already know that the wide closing bands are for the teeth on the outside of your 2 front teeth. The lateral incisors are right beside your 2 front teeth and your canine teeth are on both ends of your front row of teeth.

I stretched one wide band from one lateral incisor to the other. It worked the same way that bringing my 2 front teeth in did. I put on a fresh band 3 times a day. Once my lateral incisors closed in my 4 front teeth were together. Then I switched to using wide retaining bands on my lateral incisors.

At this point I was wearing one narrow retaining band on my 2 front teeth and 1 wide retaining band around my lateral incisors.

I then had a little space between my lateral incisors and their respective canine teeth. I used 2 wide closing bands to bring those in. Then the entire front row of teeth had no gaps.

Don't forget to get a retainer when you're done. That way you don't have to go through the whole thing again. That was my problem. I had braces a long time ago and I didn't wear my retainer regularly and over the years I developed a gap.

I just want to add a couple of things:

a) the bands are not made from rubber. There is no odor. They are totally tasteless. They are also clear.

b) When I was young I had braces. My mouth was a science project. My canine teeth used to be parallel with my 2 front teeth. I had no angle in them. In one visit, my orthodontist went inside of my mouth with his hand and literally turned all of my canine teeth in 5 minutes. The braces did not do that. He did it. I went into my appointment with my canine teeth turned one way and came out with my canine teeth turned another way. I say that to point out that orthodontic treatment is fairly brutal (at least it was for me). But I had no problems from it. I actually found the bands to be much more of a gentle product than the metal braces that I wore that were cemented onto my teeth.

The process with the combo pack is just a graduating phase of bands. Move from the narrow closing bands to the narrow retaining bands. Move from the wide closing bands one one set of teeth to ther other. Move from using the wide closing bands to using the wide retaining bands. Then it's over. I hope that I'm not making it sound harder than it really is. It's pretty simple after the first couple of days.

My gap is gone. Now that I am older and wiser I don't ignore my retainer.

I hope I helped you. Take care!

What your doing can actually loosen your teeth. The best thing you can do is either get braces, which insurance will cover, or get Invisalign braces, they're clear and very unnoticeable.

I'm telling you - if you can save money by using orthodontic elastics to close your gaps then go ahead.

I used to work in a large scale orthodontist office with multiple practices for 9 years before I changed professions. We charged ridiculous prices for the most amazingly simple cases. For something this simple, you don't need to get a full compliment of orthodontic services.

You've got to remember that you are a big fat pay check for an orthodontist. Orthodontists charge a lot of money. They make more money than dentists and almost all doctors. This is BIG business. They are going to be hostile to any form of competition whatsoever. That's why you see them commenting all over the internet and saying bad things about elastics. We scared people into spending their money with us all of the time, too.

Orthodontists give patients elastics to use on their own. They don't have a professional with them when they put them on every day. The internet has basically given you the power to do this without the heavy price tag.

An orthodontic elastic is not going to cause damage to your teeth. That's just ridiculous. That's why you don't see that in anybody's videos. You only see comments suggesting that it might happen. It's not happening to people. Like everybody else that has posted a video online about this, your teeth will be fine.

Make your own choice, but remember that you are worth thousands and thousands of dollars to the orthodontists that are trying to scare you into their arms.
