what type of braces are you getting?
if its a twin block your whole jaw will look different which is good as it makes for a nicer profile.
if its a removable brace then you don't tend to have anything pushing your lips out.
if its the fixed (train-track) braces then your lips will cover them easily not changing how you look atol.
oh and if its the fixed braces, all you should be worrying about is what colour your going to have placed on them to hold the wire on.
enjoy your straight teeth when they are done!

No not really, I never noticed anything.
Trust me, when they are new, you'll be more concerned with the soreness for a bit.
Honest, they won't stick out. Not unless you sit there like some goofball with your lips out because they bug you or something. Braces don't really sit *that* far off from the surface of your teeth. You have enough room between teeth and lips that it will be fine.

i have them on now. and they do, but only a little bit. youll probably think its horrible, but its just going to be you being self conscious. so to answer your question, barely. youll need to worry about you playing with them. and your lips/ inside of cheeks might get caught on them, but the skin will roughen up, and it wont even hurt anymore. but im also going to say careful what you eat. ill do things without thinking (bite a mint or taffy), and it DOES bull brackets off. so then you need to put up with it being loose, and then go back to have them put back on. and the front squares can only be put on by the orthodontist himself, so youll need to not only go in as an emergency (a day other than your scheduled appointment), but also wait for the doctor to be able to see you. so in the long run, its waiting (overnight usually at the least), and then sitting in the waiting room (i had to wait 2 hours once), just because you HAD to bite that piece of candy that you shouldnt have been eating in the first place. but anyways, theyll be worth it (a few years of pain for 10s of years with a straight smile!). best of luck with them!
