Do braces hurt more than spacers (vise versa)?

Question

I currently have eight spacers in and ive had them in since monday. im finding them to be extremely painful and im tired of it. i woke up yesterday morning crying because i couldnt take two more days of it. im worried about how the braces are going to feel, because im hearing spacers are supposed to be nothing compared to the first week or so of braces.

but what im wondering is, have any of you found it that if you were in pain with spacers, you were in less pain with the braces? or if you were in pain with the spacers, the braces were a breeze. im curious, and anticipating alot of pain. please help me♥

also, if you found the braces to hurt, what did you do to take the pain away and what did you eat? im taking tylenol, and its not helping me at all.

The pain is about the same. Although, with braces, the pain is with all your teeth instead of just your back teeth.

Ibuprofin or motrin works best for the pain.

As far as food goes, at first you'll want to eat soft things like mashed potatoes, ice cream and soup. Later, Avoid sticky foods like caramel, sugary gum and other sticky candies. If you eat apples, you'll have to cut them up first. Also, strawberries are a mess to clean out of braces.

Wow. Eight spacers? Thats a lot. I had four and I found them really painful. I found they hurt more than the braces for sure because the spacers are making the room for the bands that go around your teeth. When you first get your braces on they hurt for a little while.Like...Two or three days . And I took extra strength Advil gels. After those few days my teeth didn't hurt at all . The next time I found them bothering me was when I went to get them tightened. This is because the dentist switches the wire and the one they use is smaller. This only happens once every 4-6 weeks so its not too bad.

I'm kinda in the same boat except that I have 10 spacers in right now. 3 on each side on the bottom and 2 on each side on the top. They are miserable. I'm getting braces on tuesday and am like 99% sure they're going to kill me :0)

Spacers are so much worse than braces. Braces are just uncomfortable.

spacers are worse than braces. they can be a pain and annoying. i think that braces a better. yes there is pain but braces are better than spacers.

the only time it hurt me for braces was about a day after and hurt for about a week. they were kinda soar and it really bothered me when i ate so i tried to eat soft foods like mashed potatoes or soup. believe me the payoff is worth it. my wife saw a picture of me before i got braces and she told me that she would have never dated me if I wouldnt have gotten braces. yeah i had a jacked up grill. dont worry youll be fine stick with it. it will get better.
